A man from Australia who vaulted past a barrier and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.

The man, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control stated to news outlets.

Wen pushed beyond security and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was present at the regional launch for the film on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

The District Judge Christopher Goh was cited by a news outlet as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was wrong to think he would not face any penalties.

The actress has not commented on the incident.

Erivo discussed the event to NBC, stating that she "only aimed to verify my co-star was safe."

"I'm sure he didn't mean us harm, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I aimed to make sure that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
