The nation's regulatory body had flagged the four firms to the judicial system on this past Sunday after voicing alarms about the availability of childlike adult toys on the Shein website during the weekend.

The investigative authorities clarified that the online services are being examined over violent, adult or inappropriate content that can be viewed by young people.

The platform stated that the listings in dispute breached its rules and were removed once it was informed of them.

The national consumer agency, the DGCCRF, had remarked that the products' description and grouping left "little doubt as to the child pornography character" of the merchandise.

The investigation of Shein comes as the firm, which was founded in China, gets ready for the inauguration on this Wednesday of its inaugural fixed physical shop in France.
