Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase like this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
